How can k-12 teacher or educators integrate m-learning into their teaching?
Integrating m-learning into the classroom
Mobile learning is the use of mobile devices for educational purposes, making learning accessible from anywhere at anytime. As an educator, it's important to be flexible, and m-learning supports that flexibility by allowing instruction and resources to be accessed whenever and wherever they're needed. Integrating m-learning into the classroom can be a simple task, but we first have to consider our age groups. For elementary level, apps like Kahoot or Blookit are a great start. These apps enforce repetition and make review activities more engaging. They work well after a lesson to reinforce key concepts and also serve as effective study guides. Secondary educators, can use m-learning for online quizzes, QR codes, mobile polls, and research activities. (Integration of M-learning in the classroom)Teachers can give the test at any point during class, and then the grades will come in automatically. This gives the teacher an opportunity to see where the class is and how students are doing with the subjects'. QR codes can be used to reveal information for scavenger hunts, which gets students up, moving, and engaged for the lesson. Educators can also incorporate mobile polls as a review. For example, the poll might ask, "What is assistive technology?" and list few options to choose from. Lecturing can become pretty boring at times, so teachers can instruct their students to work in groups to research the topic being discussed and then present their findings at the end of the lesson. Overall, mobile learning provides endless opportunities to make instruction more interactive, accessible, and student centered. When it is used thoughtfully, it can create a classroom that supports an engaging learning environment.
